Prospero | Buzz Aldrin's going to be on Dermot O'Leary's radio programme tomorrow between 3.00pm and 6.00pm (British time). You can listen to it here. |
Paul23 | Worth keeping an ear out for, is he in the UK at the moment or is this a pre recorded thing? |
StarDome | It's been done in Los Angeles. |
Robert Pearlman | Aldrin is in Vancouver for the Winter Olympics (he presented an Omega watch to men's downhill gold medalist Didier Defago on Friday evening). |
StarDome | The interview can be heard here. Done yesterday apparently, but it could well have been done via phone even though Dermot says he has him with him? Doesn't have to mean in person I guess. Aldrin also mentions that he could be in the UK in July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed which is 2nd, 3rd and 4th July. It may be something to do with the new Aviation show at the festival. |
paulushumungus | Buzz starts 18 minutes into the broadcast. |
johnraiders | Buzz was at Goodwood last year, he was signing stuff for free! I didn't hear until a few days later. |
Prospero | Gets around, doesn't he? Not only has he been to the Moon, the North Pole and down to the Titanic, he's planning to drive to the South Pole in the near future. I reckon he does more in an average year than I've done in my life so far.
|
StarDome | I am sure if you got paid as much as he does to do some of these events then you could pack in work and do them too! |
spaceman | He needed to have walked the Moon to qualify first though Andy. |
Robert Pearlman | And keep in mind, there are many more people who get paid far more than Aldrin and who do much less than he does. |
StarDome | I can only think of Neil Armstrong as an astronaut who would get paid more for doing less? Can you elaborate? And yes Nick he did walk on the moon, or so we are led to beleive. |
Robert Pearlman | I wasn't limiting my comments to astronauts... nor was I referring to being paid for doing less (or more) but rather what they apply their earnings toward. |
StarDome | That clears that up then. |
